Mary Ann Moceyunas, 73, of Wyoming, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by her loving family. She and her husband, Vito Moceyunas, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on January 12, 2015.
Born in Port Griffith, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Timek Remus. She was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School and the Father Baker School of Nursing, Buffalo, New York. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
Mary Ann had worked for 42 years as a nurse at the former Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, where she loved being a part of the delivery and care of newborn babies. She gave wholeheartedly to her career and was often recollected by the families she met over the years.
She was all about family and will be remembered for her true devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family. She was also an avid collector of elephants.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Debra Leandri and companion, Michael Hogan, Wyoming; stepdaughter, Jeanne Phillips and husband, Gerard, Dunmore; stepson, Joseph Moceyunas and wife, Kathy, Jenkins Twp.; grandchildren, Alyssa Leandri and fiancée, Aaron Smith, Rachel Leandri, Vladimir and Alina Phillips; brother, John "Sonny" Remus and wife, Julie, Exeter; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 8:45 AM from Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St John the Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
