Arthur J. Prandy, 91, of Pittston, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family. His wife, Joyce Newman Prandy, passed away December 20, 2003.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late Joseph and Luisa Pellegrini Prandy. Arthur was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1942. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having entered in the service in 1943. He went overseas January 1944 for 28 months, serving in WWII. Mr. Prandy retired from the Pittston Post Office as Postmaster, after 31 years of service with the postal service.
Arthur was a member of the Ashley American Legion, Post 673 and served as post chaplain and was a dedicated member of their Honor Guard. He truly cherished the honor to be present for many military funeral honors services, over the years.
Surviving are his son, Barry Prandy, Sr. and wife, Margaret, Pittston; daughter, Joyce Anne Cardillo and husband, Joseph, Wyoming; grandchildren, Barry Prandy, Jr. and Chelsea Cardillo; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Prandy and two sisters, Josephine Knowles and Catherine Rekus.
A blessing service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. in the Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), by Rev. Paul A. McDonnell, O.S.J. . Interment will be in St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery, Hughestown, with full military honors to be conducted by the Ashley American Legion Honor Guard.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
