Mary "Cioci" E. Rabicki, 93, of Pittston, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018, in River Street Manor, Wilkes Barre. She was the widow of Joseph Rabicki, who passed away in 1979.
Born in Port Griffith, she was a daughter of the late John and Katherine Kalafut Simpsi. Mary was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School. She had worked for 35 years at Consolidated Cigar Factory, West Pittston and later retired from Valley Crest Nursing Home, where she worked as a nurse's aide. Mary was a very active parishioner at the former St. Joseph's Church. She volunteered at church bazaars, sang in the choir and was always there to help make the pierogis. After the closure of St. Joseph's Church, she became a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Over the years, Mary was active with the Senior Citizens Center, Wilkes-Barre and with the social activities at the Anthracite Apartments, Pittston, where she was a resident for the past 24 years. Mary was an avid traveler having visited Poland, Rome Egypt, the Holy Lands, Jerusalem and Canada numerous times. She was a generous person and an inspiration to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sister, Ann Pierson, Port Griffith; nieces, Ann Tressa Olejnik, her loving and devoted caregiver and Christina Tomlinson; nephews, Michael Tressa, Joseph, John, David and Gregory Pierson; great nieces and great nephews; great great niece and great great nephews.
Mary was also preceded in death by sisters, Sophie B. Simpsi Tressa, Nell Simpsi Bush and infant sister, Eva Simpsi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Monday, December 24, 2018, in St. John the Evangelist Church 35 William Street Pittston. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Port Griffith.
