Bernadine "Bernie" H. Resperski, 82, of Pittston, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Glen Lyon, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Pasternak Baran and was a graduate of Newport Township High School, Class of 1961. After high school, Bernadine attended the American Institute of Banking School and was employed in the Travel Department of The First National Bank of Wilkes-Barre. Bernadine was then a stewardess for Eastern Airlines after completing flight attendant school. For fifteen years, she worked for Hess's Department store, Wilkes-Barre, as an Assistant Manager in the Home department. Bernadine was employed by Guard Insurance, Wilkes-Barre, prior to retirement. A member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin, she was a devout Catholic who prayed and watched televised Mass every day.
Bernadine was passionate about family and would do anything for her kids and her dogs. She loved to travel. Road trips to Skaneateles, N.Y., for Doug’s Fish Fry and to Ocean City, Maryland, for sitting on the beach were among her favorite destinations. Bernadine loved going for breakfast with her kids or for a delicious lobster dinner. She enjoyed attending purse bingo events and collecting angel figurines. Every Christmas, Bernadine would donate to the Christmas Angels at her church and monthly donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Cherished memories of dinners with her dear friends, Patricia and Sandie, highlighted their close-knit bond as the "three amigas". Bernadine's warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She and her husband, Edmund J. Resperski Jr., were married 49 years when he passed on July 25, 2016. Her brother, John Baran, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Mark Resperski and daughter, Sheri Resperski, both of Pittston; her sister and brother-in-law, Irene and William Dugan, Nanticoke; her precious fur babies, Joy, Sugar, and Angel; several nieces and nephews.
