Jennie M. Skonieczki - August 4, 2012

Jennie M. Skonieczki, 92, of Plains Twp., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, July 29, 2012. She was a guest of the Golden Living Center-Summit, Wilkes-Barre. Jennie and her husband, Joseph had celebrated 47 years of marriage prior to his death in 1987.

Born in Glen Lyon, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara Zdony Skurski. Jennie was a graduate of Newport High School, Nanticoke. Prior to retirement, she was a secretary for Bulova Watch Co., NY and Hess Oil, NJ. Jennie was a very talented seamstress with the ability to duplicate any patterns she came across. She was a member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston and former member of St. Joseph’s Church, Port Griffith.

Jennie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the “apple of her eye”. She had a tremendous impact on the lives she touched and will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of both the Golden Living Center-Summit, Wilkes-Barre and the Celtic Health Care Hospice, Kingston, for their compassionate care.

Surviving is her daughter, Barbara Paranich and husband, Robert, Plains Twp., grandchildren, Robert Paranich and wife, Denise, Westminster, Md.; Stephen Paranich and wife, Rae Marie Venarucci, Roaring Brook Twp., PA; Barbara Mackereth and husband, Jim, Altoona, PA; Rebecca Miller and husband, John,Tyronne, PA; Jennifer Skonieczki Shieves and husband, Paul, Mt. Airy, Md. and Douglas Skonieczki, Texas; great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Matthew Mackereth, Adam Paranich, Kyle and Meredith Shieves, and Chloe Skonieczki; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Skurski, Nanticoke, PA and Julia Misiewicz, Meredith, NY; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jennie was preceded in death by her son, Walter Skonieczki, a sister, Stella Pietraszko, four brothers, Fr. Walter Skurski, Fr. Herbert Skurski, OFM, John Skurski, and Bolish Skurski.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. from Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main St., Pittston. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, August 4, 2012, from 9:00A.M. to 10:30A.M., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Pittston Food Pantry c/o Saint John the Evangelist Parish Community, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640.
