Anne M. Gaffney, 88, of Pittston, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Sebastopol, Jenkins Twp., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Johanna Wright Gaffney. She was a graduate of St. John's High School, Class of 1943. She had worked for the Lincoln National Life Insurance Co., Pittston. She later moved to Roselle Park, NJ and was employed by Shallcross Express in Kenilworth, NJ, where she worked for 30 years. After retirement, Anne moved back to Pittston to be near her loving family. Her family was her pride and joy. Anne's presence will be missed but her memory will live on.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston and Catholic Daughters of America.

Surviving are her siblings, Michael Gaffney, West Pittston; Kathryn Karvalis and husband, William, Perth Amboy, NJ; William Gaffney and wife, Eleanor, Jenkins Twp.; Jean Stacey, Pittston; many nieces and nephews; especially her nephew, Jack Stacey and niece, Anne Marie Rose; great nieces and great nephews; great great nieces and great great nephews.

Anne was preceded in death by brothers, Martin and Joseph Gaffney; sister, Mary Pineno and two nephews, Matthew Rose and Patrick Gaffney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may pay their respects Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association 63 N. Franklin St, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 or the donor's favorite charity.
