Joan F. Halford, 78, of Pittston, passed away Thursday morning, July 24, 2014, at her home. She was the widow of Donald Halford, who passed away April 30, 2004.
Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late James and Anna Reiser Hart. She was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1953. Joan was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. She was most recently employed by Allied in Home Services, Clarks Summit.
Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, who was cherished by her family and will be missed by those who were blessed to know and love her. She enjoyed reading and trips to the beach. She will be remembered for her love of animals and the many cats she rescued over the years.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. James Bruno and the Visiting Angels for the compassionate care given to Joan.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathryn Rusk and husband, William M., Stroudsburg; Claire Halford, with whom Joan resided; grandson, William R. Rusk and wife, Sara; several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Susie.
She was preceded in death by brother, Paul Hart and two sisters, Rita McDonald and Anna Mae Boos.
The funeral will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 10:00 AM from Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St John the Evangelist Church, William St., Pittston.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., at the funeral home.
