Arthur D. Weaver, 83, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday morning, September 30, 2014, in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice. He and his wife, Ann Wescott Weaver, celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on May 21, 2014.
Born in White Haven, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Pearl Stevens Weaver. Arthur was educated in the White Haven and West Pittston schools. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Valley Woodcraft, Wyoming and Knights Inn, Pittston. He was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittston and the West Pittston Hose Co.. He was also a member of the American Legion, Old Forge.
Arthur was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving in addition to his wife; his son, George Weaver and wife, Susan, Waymart; daughter, Dorothea Cienki and husband, Scott, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Austin and Dakota Weaver; several nieces and nephews, including Chad Morrow and his dog, Gidget.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rudolph and Larry Weaver and sister, Muriel Chonka.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM. in Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street Pittston (Port Griffith), Rev. Dennis Gray, Chaplain of Compassionate Care Hospice, Old Forge, will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M.
