Joanne Marie DePascale - Friday, October 31st

Joanne Marie DePascale, 66, of West Wyoming, made her journey over the rainbow Sunday, October 26, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She and her husband, Joseph DePascale, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on October 11, 2014.

Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late John and Genevieve (Jean) Gajewski Yurek. She was a graduate of Wyoming High School, Class of 1966 and was valedictorian of her class. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a candy sales marketing representative for Bazzini Holdings at Eddyleon Chocolate Co., Allentown, formerly of Moosic.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Wyoming, prior to its merging with St. Monica's Parish, West Wyoming. Joanne's many fond memories of St. Joseph's Church included being queen of a May crowning; a member of the choir and of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary and volunteering at the annual church bazaars. She also did volunteer work for many charitable organizations.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Joanne's caretaker, Missy.

Joanne will forever be remembered for her willingness to do for others. If you needed anything she was there with love and helping hands. What was most important above all was her love for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, Babci, sister and friend. She was the best Babci her grandchildren could ever have. Her grandchildren were her world and she gave each of them their special times with sleepovers, shopping trips, presents and bowling night.

Joanne's memory will never be forgotten and the lives she touched are truly blessed because of her.

Surviving in addition to her husband, is her son, Jody DePascale, Inkerman and daughter, Barbara Wesley and husband, Brian, Inkerman; the joys of her life her grandsons, Anthony DePascale, Matthew, Marshall and Lane Wesley; sisters, Irene Pizzano and her husband, Carmen, Exeter; Annette Kelly, Carmel, Indiana; brother, John A. Yurek, Exeter; someone who Joanne considered a daughter, Gina White, Pittston; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, David.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. in St. Monica's Parish West 8th Street West Wyoming. Everyone attending the mass is asked to go directly to the church on Friday morning. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Wyoming.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith)
