Hans Christian Petersen, 79, of Mill City, passed away Tuesday evening, December 23, 2014, at the VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, two days before he would have celebrated his 80th birthday. He and his wife, Dorothy Smith Petersen, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on February 7, 2014.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late Jasper and Jensenine Pedersen Petersen. He attended Scranton Technical High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Prior to retirement, Hans was employed as a warehouse manager for Jacobson Hat Co., Scranton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert Petersen, Mill City and several nieces and nephews.

Hans was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Petersen, brothers, Jens and Lornes Petersen and sisters, Junia Wright and Inge Freeman.

Family and friends may pay their respects during a celebration of Hans' life on Saturday, January 3, 2015, from 3:00 to 6:00PM at the home of his brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Theodore and Geraldine Smith 929 Oak Street, Taylor.
