Julia Vitek, 88, of Port Griffith, passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2014, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. She was the widow of Joseph Andrew Vitek, who passed away in 1988.

Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Julia Yardchick Melnick. She was educated in the Jenkins Township schools. Prior to retirement, Julia was employed by J & R Dress Co., Wyoming and prior to that MK Bra & Girdle, Wyoming.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston and the ILGWU.

Surviving is her devoted son and caregiver, Joseph M. Vitek, Port Griffith; daughter, Linda Ann Trotter, Falls; sister, Eleanor Zuba, Plains Township; granddaughters, April and Brittany Trotter; several nieces and nephews.

Julia was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Maryann; brothers, John, Michael, Frank and Joseph Melnick and sisters, Ann Mapel and Mary Mikitish.

A private blessing service and interment will be at the convenience of the family in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street Pittston (Port Griffith).
