Leonard S. Harenza - Monday, Jan. 26th

Leonard S. Harenza, 82, of Port Griffith, passed away Thursday evening, January 22, 2015, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Port Griffith, he was a son of the late Michael and Agnes Lukasczyk Harenza. He was a graduate of Jenkins Twp. High School, Class of 1950. Prior to retirement in 1995, he served as a policeman for the Jenkins Twp. Police Dept. for 23 years. He had also worked for Carpinet Plumbing and Heating, Wyoming. He was a member of St. Monica's Parish, West Wyoming.

Leonard was a beloved brother, uncle and friend, who will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He truly cherished the time spent with his special family members the past month of his illness.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to 2nd floor - West of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the compassionate care given to Leonard in his final days and also to Dr. Charles Manganiello; Dr. Jeffrey D'Andrea; Dr. Michael Harostock and their staffs for their exceptional care.

Surviving is his brother and best friend, Edward Harenza, Plymouth; sister, Josephine Radginski, Wilkes-Barre; sister-in-law, Genevieve Harenza, Jenkins Twp.; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Palivoda, Stella Breck, and Angela Kruchinsky and brothers, Andrew, Joseph and Stanley "Zip" Harenza.

The funeral will be held Monday, at 8:15AM from Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. Monica's Parish West 8th Street West Wyoming. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
