Joseph R. Hartridge - Friday, Feb. 6th

Joseph R. Hartridge, "Uncle Joe", 84, of Scranton, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, January 31, 2015, with his family by his side. He had been hospitalized since December 31st at Regional Hospital, Scranton.

Born in the Bellevue section of Scranton, he was a son of the late John and Mary Potoma Hartridge. He was the youngest of five children. Joseph was a graduate of West Scranton High School, Class of 1948. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton, where he was very active for most of his life.

Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed for over 30 years as the Financial & Personnel Supervisor at the William J. Nealon Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Scranton.

Uncle Joe enjoyed his many vacations, holidays and daily calls, with his nieces and caregivers, Diane Williams and Donna Schouten and their families. He enjoyed the Christmas Eve tradition started by his mother and continued by his loving nieces.

Uncle Joe enjoyed his friends tremendously. Some of his most treasured memories were dinners out and going to the Pocono Playhouse and Cultural Center with his closest friends, Barbara Long and Kenny Mulholland.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jalowiec, Dr. Cohen, Dr. Peters and the entire 8th floor East staff at Regional Hospital, Scranton, for their continued support, care and understanding given to Uncle Joe and his family during his illness.

He is survived by nieces, Diane Williams, Donna Schouten, Mary Czapla, Carole Lameo, Sharon Bauer and nephews, Joseph Fesolovich, Bill Fedysky, Sr., and John Hartridge. He had many great nieces, including Christina Sossong and great nephews, including John and David Nicodem and a great great niece, Elle Sossong, who he adored.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Mulka, Mary Fesolovich, and Elizabeth Fedysky; brother, John Hartridge and nephew, Johnny Mulka.

The funeral will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, in St. Marys Byzantine Catholic Church, 310 Mifflin Avenue, Scranton, the Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM, the Rev. Leonard A. Martin, S.J., Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church Friday morning, there will be no procession from the funeral home.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM, at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith). Parastas services will be at 6:30 PM, at the funeral home.

The family will also receive friends at the church Friday morning from 9:15 AM until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
