Stanley A. Dziedzic, 90, of Port Griffith, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Tiffany Court, Kingston, where he was a guest for the past year.
Born in Port Griffith, he was a son of the late Anthony and Regina Harenza Dziedzic. Stanley attended Jenkins Township High School and was a veteran of the US Navy, having served eight years during both WWII and the Korean War. He was also the recipient of five battle stars.
Prior to his retirement, Stanley was employed for 35 years for Potlatch Paper Co., Ransom Township. He was a union official for United Paperworkers International Union.
Stanley was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church, Port Griffith and a current member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 938, Jenkins Twp. and former member of the VFW, Pittston.
Stanley had a great love for both his family and his church. He was also an avid NY Yankees fan.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Tiffany Court, Kingston for their compassionate care given to Stanley the past year.
Surviving are his siblings, Sister Felicia Ann, O.S.F. and Sister Myra, O.S.F., of the Bernardine Order, both of Reading; Helen Sweeney, Millville, NJ and brother, John S. Dean, Jenkins Twp.; many nieces and nephews.
Stanley was also preceded in death by sisters, Josephine Chorba, Mary Pryzwara, Martha Zupon and brother, Walter Dziedzic.
The funeral will be held Friday, June 12, 2015, at 8:45 AM from Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St John the Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 938, Jenkins Township.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
