Judith "Judy" Wierbowski, 71, of Pittston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday evening, September 8, 2015 at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
She was born on January 3, 1944 along with her twin sister Joan to Joseph and Nellie Yakalavich Wierbowski.
A lifelong Pittston resident, she graduated from Pittston Area High School, class of 1961. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Misericordia University, class of 1965. She taught various elementary grades at Brookside Elementary School in Conklin, New York, retiring in 1999 after 35 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister and sister Dorothy Wierbowski Menone.
She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Reddington and her two sons, Brian and Joseph Reddington.
A devoted Aunt, she is also survived by her loving nephews and niece, Kenneth Reilly, Kevin Reilly and Karen Amici. Judy was fond of her great-nieces, Kelly Reilly and Erin Johnson and her two children, David and Kenadie. She is also survived by additional great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Judy was a devoted Phillies & Eagles fan and loved to play BINGO. She will be deeply missed at the St. John the Evangelist annual parish picnic.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 14, 2015, at 9:30 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Church, William St., Pittston. Everyone attending the mass is asked to go directly to the church on Monday morning. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Pittston.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Sunday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Judy's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to her cherished parish, St. John the Evangelist, 35 William St, Pittston, PA 18640.
