Eva Stonikinis, 91, of Dupont, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Her beloved husband Joseph Stonikinis passed away on March 20, 1966.
Born in Dupont, Eva was the youngest daughter of the late Paul and Antoinette Satkowski Malyszko. She was a graduate of Dupont High School, Class of 1942. Eva worked as a dental assistant in the office of Dr. Newman before she married and began her life as a full time homemaker. Evas great strength and faith in God helped her to raise her children as a single parent after the early and unexpected death of her beloved husband, Joseph.
Eva was a faithful member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont and a former member of its choir and Women’s Society. She was active as a Group Secretary in the Polish Union USA.
She is survived by her children, Marie Rovinski and husband, Stanley, Jenkins Twp.; Paul Stonikinis, Dupont; Monica Mott and husband, Michael, Jacksonville, FL; Therese Klinefelter and husband, Richard, Wilkes-Barre; Timothy Stonikinis and wife, Patricia, Dupont and Rebecca Micca and husband, Michael, Shickshinny; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Eva was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy, brothers, The Very Rev. Paul D. Malyszko and Peter Malyszko and a sister, Anastasia Janicki.
The funeral will be Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 9:15 a.m. from the Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, offered by Rev. Joseph D. Verespy. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Dupont.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home, with the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church reciting the rosary at 6:30PM.
