Helen M. Piragas, 92, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday morning, March 18, 2016, in Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre. She was the widow of John "Jack" Piragas, who passed away August 16, 2010.

Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Casimir and Frances Sakalavich Matonis. She was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School.

Helen was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston and also the Knights of Lithuania Council 143, Pittston.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Riverstreet Manor, for the compassionate care given to Helen.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Ruth Musto, Port Griffith; son, Carey Piragas, Pittston; grandson, Garrett Piragas; brother, Robert Matonis, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was also preceded in death by brothers, Albert, George, Thomas and Joseph Matonis and a sister, Anne.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016, at 9:30AM. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Pittston.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church, Monday 9:00 AM until the time of the mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Care and Concern Clinic or the Greater Pittston Food Pantry, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston, (Port Griffith), PA.
