Edmund J. Resperski, Jr. of Pittston, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He and his wife, Bernadine Baran Resperski, celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on May 27, 2016.
Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Edmund, Sr. and Ona Zdnavage Resperski.
Edmund was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, Class of 1960 and earned an Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor's degree in Finance and a Master's Degree in both Business Administration and Engineering. He previously was employed by Garwood Industries, Exeter; Akzo Nobel, Clarks Summit, where he served as Chief Inventory Controller and Thomson Education Direct, Scranton, from which he retired.
He was a devout catholic and was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin.
Edmund was a devoted husband, loving father, loyal brother and a true friend, who would give you the shirt off his back if needed. He was a Man of Honor and Honesty. He was known by his friends as "the human calculator" and always managed to amaze them with his ability to figure out complex mathematical equations in his head. Those who knew him during his inventory days will never forget his saying of "No tickey, No washey". He loved animals, especially dogs; gardening; flowers and sitting on his porch enjoying a cold refreshment. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son, Mark Resperski; daughter, Sheri Resperski, both of Pittston; sister, Lorraine Reid and her husband, Bruce, Skaneateles, NY; brother, Joseph Resperski, Philadelphia; his precious princess, his dog, Joy; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Resperski.
The funeral will be Friday, July 29, 2016, at 9:15 A.M. from Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main St. Pittston, (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Maria Goretti Church 42 Redwood Drive., Laflin, to be celebrated by Rev. James J. Walsh, Pastor. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. The Parish Rosary Group will recite the rosary at 9:30 A.M. in the church.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M. and Friday morning from 8:15 to 9:15AM at the funeral home.
