Thomas E. Wasko, 63, of Port Griffith, entered peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday evening, October 18, 2016 at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. He and his loving wife, Cathy Edmondson Wasko, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on September 4, 2016.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late Edward and Mildred A. Kavka Wasko. Thomas was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1971. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Action Lift, Inkerman. He also was known for his auto body work, with his own Thomas Wasko Auto Body shop.
Thomas was a beloved husband, dad and poppy, who truly cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed going on his fall vacations to the beach, fishing, the Ocean City car show and even had the opportunity to take a trip to Las Vegas, when he and Cathy celebrated their 25th anniversary. Thomas loved everything about the holidays, which included decorating and celebrating with the kids. He also had a true love of cars and trains. Thomas will be remembered for his enjoyment of conversations with anyone willing to talk.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son, Corey Wasko and wife, Jillian, Duryea; daughters, Sarah Milewski and husband, Steven, West Wyoming; Tracy Shupp and husband, Bryan, Pittston Twp.; grandchildren, Christian and Thomas Wasko, Maura and Zachary Milewski, Katie Wynn and Bryan Shupp; his best buddy, his Westi dog, Lily; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon A. Gorzkowski.
A blessing service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. in Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with Fr. Joseph D. Verespy, officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pittston.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
