Joseph "CoCo" Harenza, 64, of Port Griffith, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 10, 2017, at home. Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late John S. and Loretta Redicka Harenza. Joseph was educated in the Pittston Area school district. He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served our county during the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier the USS Kitty Hawk where he was an awarded firefighter and later served on the USS Bonhomme Richard in the Western Pacific and Southeast Asia. For many years, Joseph was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot, where he later retired. He was a member of the Plains American Legion Post 558, and the Lithuanian Club of both Inkerman and Pittston.
He is survived by daughters, Aimee Detweiler and husband, Josh, White Haven; Jo Lynne Harenza, Philadelphia; son, Joseph Harenza, Jr., Mountain Top; granddaughters, Alivia and Emilee Detweiler; brother, Sylvester Harenza, Pittston; numerous cousins, friends and his pal, Max.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and twin sons, Joseph and John.
A blessing service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel, Carverton.
Everyone attending the service on Friday is asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main St. Pittston, (Port Griffith).
