Richard D. Savage, 77, of Pulaski, Virginia, passed away Tuesday morning, May 2, 2017, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township, after a brief illness. He and his wife, Connie Childress Savage, celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on October 20, 2016.
Born in Espy, PA he was a son of the late Dana Leroy and Agnes Albertson Savage. He was educated in the Glen Lyon school district. Richard was a proud Army veteran where he served as a paratrooper. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RAAP), Radford, VA. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5621, Liberty, Texas.
Richard was a beloved husband, dad, Pop Pop, brother and uncle, who was cherished by his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his daughter, Cathy Savage Davies and husband, John, Harveys Lake; step son, Mark Crawford and his wife, Stephanie, Christensburg, VA; grandchildren, Grayson and Harper Davies, Megan and Noah Crawford and Jacob Collins; siblings, Shirley Jacobs, Holland, MI; Paul Peters and wife, Dorothy and Franklin Peters and wife, Cathy, all of Wapwallopen; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Wayne, Larry, and John Savage, Beverly Benke and Robert Savidge.
Private services will be held in Virginia at a later date.
