Agnes M. Maira, 68, of Kingston, formerly of Pittston, passed away Thursday morning, July 20, 2017, in Manor Care Health Services, Kingston, after an aggressive battle with Huntington's disease and a recent diagnosis of breast cancer. She was the widow of Cataldo F. Maira, who passed away April 14, 2008.
Born in Wharton, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Alphonso and Marie Bellas Dauksis. Prior to retirement, she had worked at the JC Penney Call Center, Moosic, Rex Shoe Factory, Wyoming, and Walmart, Pittston.
Agnes was a beloved mom, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Her hobbies included: ceramics, crafting, reading, and spending time with her five grandchildren. She was cherished by her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a devoted wife/caretaker when her husband was diagnosed with heart disease and cancer, and she always did whatever she could to make her grandchildren happy and healthy. During her time at the nursing home, she was known for loving ice cream and often opting for that, rather than her dinner she was served.
Surviving are her sons, Michael Dauksis and Cataldo Maira; grandchildren, Brandon, Zackary, Makayla, Joey, and Mariessa; great grandson, C.J.; sister, Anne Tighe; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Patricia Price and Mary Edwards.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
