Louise T. Shainline, 73, of Pittston, formerly of Florida and Long Island, NY, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017, in Wesley Village, Jenkins Twp., after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She and her loving and devoted husband, Robert L. Shainline celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on October 16, 2016.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Gertrude Strain Martin. She was a graduate of Bishop Kenrick High School, Class of 1962, Norristown and Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, Norristown. Louise had worked as an LPN at Lely Palms, Naples, Fla., the Talbot House - Drug and Alcohol Rehab., Bohemia, NY and several other facilities over the years and had retired in 2004 from Wesley Village. She was a Cub Scout den mother while raising her children in Harding.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. While living in Florida, she was a member of Cape Coral Alliance Church, Florida and was a member of its choir.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Deborah Tokar and husband, Leonard. Pittston; Robert Jr., and his wife, Sabrina, Windsor, Colorado; Rebecca Shainline, Harding; Heather Ruth and husband, Robert, Port Charlotte, Fla.; 29 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one on the way, several nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister.
A blessing service will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 8:00 PM at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street Pittston (Port Griffith), with Fr. Joseph Elston, officiating.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
