Edward James Halat, 33, of Dupont, passed away on May 20, 2018. He was born in Pittston and was the son of Edward and Marya Dillon Halat, Dupont. Edward graduated from Seton Catholic High School, Pittston, Class of 2003 and the Culinary Of Arts School, Penn State, Class of 2005. He was employed in culinary and manufacturing jobs over the years and was most recently employed at Golden Technologies in Laflin.
Edward was a kind and gentle person and had a great sense of humor that would make everyone laugh in his presence. He brought laughter and joy to everyone who knew him.
Edward was a loving father and beloved son and brother. He was a great and loyal friend to many. He will be sadly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
He was an avid Dallas cowboys football fan and Gonzaga basketball fan. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, wrestling and music. He loved the outdoors and especially loved the ocean and enjoyed many family vacations at the beach. He had a passion for cooking and was a talented master chef.
Mostly, Edward loved spending time with his son, Landon James, the light of his life, and was cherished by his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Edward is survived by his son, Landon James; sister, Marissa Vaccaro and her husband, Charles of California; maternal grandmother, Marion Dillon of Port Griffith; paternal grandmother, Josephine Halat of Pittston. He is also survived by a niece, nephew and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James W. Dillon and paternal grandfather, Edward E. Halat.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday May 24, at Oblates of St. Joseph in Laflin,
celebrated by Fr. Joseph Sibilano, O.S.J.. Interment was in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston.
