Margaret "Margie" T. Lapusnak - Thursday, 1/3/2019

Margaret "Margie" T. Lapusnak, 93, of Port Griffith, passed away Saturday morning, December 29, 2018 in Wesley Village, Jenkins Township, where she was a guest for the past few months.

She was a lifelong resident of Port Griffith, a daughter of the late John and Maria Surma Lapusnak. Margie was a graduate of Jenkins Twp. High School. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Consolidated Cigar Factory, West Pittston. She was a parishioner of the former St. John the Baptist Slovak Church, Pittston until its closure and then became a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. For many years, she was a member of the Blue Army of Fatima. Margie, along with her sister, Ann Marie, took the Fatima Statue to many homes and was active with the all night vigils at the churches.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Partridge-Tippett Nursing Facility at Wesley Village, for their compassionate care given to Margie during her stay.

Margaret is survived by her cousins, including Fr. Dominik Kalata, John Kalata and wife, Stasia, Frank Kalata and wife, Maria; and several friends.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Andrew, George, infant John and sisters, Mary, Ann Marie and Theresa Lapusnak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in St. John the Evangelist Church 35 William Street, Pittston, to be celebrated by Fr. Dominik Kalata, her cousin. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Slovak Cemetery, Exeter.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 11:00 AM until the time of the mass, at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made for masses to be celebrated in Margaret's memory.
