Carol A. Sweeney Delaney - Private Graveside
Carol A. Sweeney Delaney, 62, of Pittston, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She and her husband, Thomas Delaney, have been married for 32 years. Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late William and Isabelle Brydon Sweeney. Carol was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1977. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Mercy Hospital, Scranton. She was a member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston and former member of St. Mary's Assumption Church, Pittston. Carol was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, who was cherished by her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Also surviving is her son, Wayne Delaney and step-son, Raymond Delaney, both of Pittston; grandson Joseph Delaney, Mocanaqua; sisters, Shirley Gross, and Margaret "Peggy" Prandy, both of Hughestown; Deborah Williams, Pittston; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Ann Marie Acernace, Patricia Perschau, Marjorie Davison, and Helen Aqulina and brother, William Sweeney, Sr. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. A public memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date.
