Michael P. Talipan, 89, of Port Griffith, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He and his loving and devoted wife, Jean Vetack Talipan, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on February 23, 2020.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late Michael and Rose Chichilla Talipan. Michael was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1949. He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. For many years, he owned and operated Mike's Barbershop, Port Griffith and later retired from Main Pants, West Pittston. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. He was also a member of the VFW and the Jenkins Twp. American Legion Post 938.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who was cherished by his family and will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Michael, Jr. and wife, Diane; Robert and wife, Donna; Bruce and wife, Kim; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Mary Vender and husband, Dominick; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and William Talipan.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 11:30 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Pittston. Military honor services will be conducted by AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston.
