Leonard "Butchie" Zigmund, 60, of Jenkins Twp., formerly of Port Blanchard, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Leonard was born in Kingston, a son of loving and devoted parents, Irene C. (Timek) Zigmund, and the late Edmund W. Zigmund, Sr. from Jenkins Twp. He was educated at the Custer Street School, Wilkes-Barre, John F. Kennedy School, Exeter, St. Rocco's School, Pittston, and the Homebound Program. Leonard was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston until its closure. He was a current member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, who was loved and cherished by all who knew him. Leonard's pastimes included listening to music and playing records; polka shows; books; and watching cartoons, especially Sponge Bob, Mickey Mouse and Masha and the Bear. He loved monkeys and the family pets. Every Christmas he was granted his wish for a robot.
Despite many challenges in life, Leonard always had a huge smile on his face. He had a hearty laugh, was fun-loving and most of all emitted an unconditional love for everyone whose life he touched. He was the center of happiness and comfort for his whole family, and held an extra special bond with his Mom and Dad who dedicated their lives to his care.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the late Dr. James Bruno and his staff. Also, thanks to Dr. Kevin Musto and his staff; Dr. Scott Reider; both Golden Care & Commonwealth Home Health; and Caregivers of America, especially, Monica Stevens, his sister Irene Kovaleski and Judy Flaherty.
