Helen G. Black, 86, of Moosic, passed away peacefully on Friday, December, 18, 2020 in Wesley Village, Jenkins Township. She and her loving and devoted husband, James Black, Sr., have been married for 67 years.

Born in Moosic, she was a daughter of the late Morrill and Mabel Masters Akens. Helen was a graduate of Moosic High School, Class of 1952. She along with her husband, James, Sr., owned and operated Akens Moving and Storage, Moosic and later worked at J.C. Penney Call Center, Moosic, from where she retired.

She was a beloved wife, mom, nanna, great grandma, aunt and friend. She was cherished by her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughter, Marie Black; sons, James Black, Jr., Paul and John Black; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Emma Jean Mattern.

A Celebration of Helen's Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please make donation in Helen's name to Saint Joseph's Center 2010 Adams Ave. Scranton, PA 18509.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main St., Pittston (Port Griffith).
