Thomas J. Stegura, 69, of Pittston, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was reunited with his wife, Coralee Carlisle, who passed away on August 15, 2020.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late John and Rose Stegura Tobin. Thomas was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1969. He was an Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam War era from 1970 - 1974 in the 319th Bombardment Wing stationed at Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota. He worked as a CNC machinist after leaving the military for the rest of his career, and finally retired from General Dynamics, Scranton. Prior to that he worked for Ashley Machine, Wyoming, RAF Manufacturing, Mountain Top, and Elliott Manufacturing, Scranton.
Thomas was a beloved father, brother, friend, son, and uncle. He was especially a lifelong bedrock of support and generosity for his son who developed multiple adverse health conditions from his teen years into his adult life. His family will cherish the memories of his many visits; he always made them each feel so special. Thomas's life has been a family blessing, his passing is heaven's gain.
Thomas enjoyed cooking and loved the adventure of searching the internet for new recipes to prepare. His other interests were anything military related, such as firearms and aircrafts. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan.
He is survived by his loving son, Jeremy Stegura; siblings, William Tobin, April Coram, Brian Tobin, Bruce Tobin, Shari Lupinski-Tobin; several nieces and nephews; dogs, Arwen and Cody and will be sorely missed by his lifelong best friend John Salek of Duryea.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
