John F. Coyle, Jr., 76, of Port Griffith, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at his home. He and his wife, Irene M. Griglock Coyle, celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 3, 2021.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John F. Coyle, Sr. and Elaine McQue Coyle. John was a graduate of Exeter High School, Class of 1965. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during the Vietnam War. John was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot, from where he retired after 30 years. He was a member of St John the Baptist Church, Pittston, until its closure.
John was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was cherished by his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved spending time with his family in his "man cave" watching military and Sci-fi movies and cooking shows. He loved gardening and was an avid Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He is also survived by his sons, Christopher and Jonathan Coyle; step-mother, Iva Coyle; sister, Cheryl Sappe and husband, Louis; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brian A. Coyle and brother, Robert Coyle.
The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family, to honor John's wishes.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith).
