John J. "Jack" Albert - Friday, 7/1/2022

John J. "Jack" Albert, 90, of Jenkins Twp., passed away peacefully at his home, on Monday, June 27, 2022. His loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy M. Wayda Albert, passed away January 9, 2021.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Patrick Albert. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Scranton, Class of 1950. Jack attended the University of Scranton and Keystone Junior College, LaPlume.

Jack worked for 42 years in the food brokerage industry. He was employed by the James O. Brown Co., Pittston Twp., as the Vice President Controller, until his retirement.

Jack was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin and served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. He was a member of the Jenkins Twp. Lions Club for 34 years, where he served as past President three times and was chairman of many committees. He was a member of the Jenkins Twp. Planning Commission and coached Jenkins Twp. Little League baseball.

Jack was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His greatest joy was his family and time spent together. Jack and his wife, Dorothy had many great memories of cruises around the world, including Canada, New England, the Caribbean, Panama Canal and Alaska. Jack enjoyed the season of Christmas as he played Santa Claus for many different functions and was sometimes accompanied by his wife as Mrs. Claus.

He is survived by his sons Joseph Albert; James Albert and wife, Samantha, all of Jenkins Twp.; Timothy Albert and wife, Mary, Plains; daughter, Ann Marie Mudlock and husband, Joseph, Jenkins Twp.; grandsons, Jack, William and Connor Albert; brothers-in-law, Joseph McAndrew and Ed Fields; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy McCormack and Elizabeth "Betty" Fields; sisters-in-law, Helen McAndrew and Mary Ann Wayda; brothers-in-law, Joseph Wayda and Robert McCormack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 1, 2022, in St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive., Laflin, to be celebrated by Fr. Alex Roche, Pastor. Interment will be at a later date in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Taylor.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith) and Friday morning at the church from 9:00AM until the time of the mass. The Parish Rosary Group will recite the rosary at 9:30 A.M. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive Laflin, PA 18702 or Jenkins Twp. Lions Club 122 S. Highland Drive, Pittston, PA 18640.
