Ernest N. Corrado, Jr., 94, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. His first wife, Mary DeVergilius Corrado, passed away in 1992 and his second wife, Eleanor Rooney Corrado, passed away in 2015.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late Ernest N., Sr. and Julia Olam Corrado. Ernie was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1945 and Wilkes-Barre Business College. He retired from Valley Crest Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre in 1994, where he worked for 15 years. He lived in Wilkes-Barre before moving to Florida in 1995, where he spent 20 years until moving back to PA in 2015.
He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Pittston, Holiday Lakes West Civic Association, Holiday Lakes Security Patrol and the Red Devils Athletic Club.
Ernie is survived by his step-daughters, Eleanor Garavaglia and husband, Alfred, Kingston; Theresa Shrader and husband, Gary, Wilkes-Barre; step-son, John Rooney, Kingston; step-grandchildren, Alex Garavaglia, Alicia Mikluscak, Mark and Matthew Shrader, Kim Waltman, Jessica Michailidis and Patrick Rooney; step-great grandchildren, Derek Garavaglia, Lucas, Logan Nicholas and Cara Shrader, Gabe and Abby Waltman, Angelica Beaver, and Makayla Snyder; sister, Esther Mirro, West Pittston; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Debra A. Corrado Jacobs in 2021; step-son, Gerard Rooney in 1998; step-granddaughter, Amy Garavaglia in 1994; step-great grandson, Tyler Matthew Shrader in 2010 and sister, Sylvia "June" Kuncio in 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with The Rev. Roger E. Griffith, Pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church, Pittston, officiating. Interment will be in Pittston Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
