Marion A. Dillon - Saturday, 7/22/2023

Marion A. Dillon, 97, of Port Griffith, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at United Methodist Homes Wesley Village campus, Jenkins Twp.. She was married to James W. Dillon for 65 years, until his passing on November 13, 2013.

Born in Port Griffith, she was a daughter of the late John and Nellie Melak Halupka. Marion was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School, Class of 1942. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

Marion was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and aunt, who was the cherished matriarch of her family. Her home was so full of love and a constant revolving door any day or time. She was always dressed to the nines with her lipstick and clip on earrings. She was a talented seamstress and often made her own clothes growing up, even helping with her own wedding gown.

She loved the flowers her husband grew in the backyard, especially the roses and the pink stargazers, and often invited friends and family to walk around the house to enjoy them.

No matter what time you stepped into the kitchen she welcomed you to her haven with love and food. It was always filled with goodies to eat, and stories to listen to. She cherished time well spent around the table. It wasn't necessarily the food or drinks offered, but her presence, a combination of grace, warmth, and being a wonderful listener.

She was known to some as “Queen Bee” or “Elizabeth Taylor”. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the nursing home staff at Wesley Village for the kindness, loving care, and friendship so freely given to our mother, especially Dominique, Joy, and Dr. Valenti. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Guy Fasciana for the excellent care and friendship over the years.

Marion is survived by her six children, Diane Swanek, Port Griffith; Eileen Mulhern and husband, Pat, Tunkhannock; Karen Dillon, Port Griffith; James W. Dillon, Jr. and wife, Michele (Patchoski), Pittston; Marya Halat and husband, Edward, Dupont; and Margaret Ann Dillon-Sposato and husband, John, Weatherly; grandchildren, Daniel, Marissa, P.J., Brendan, Megan, Katrina and Jimmie; great grandchildren, Kaya, Landon, CJ, Emma Grace, Madison, Jack Patrick, Declan, Dillon and William; great great granddaughter, Brynlee Taryn; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Tara Marie Swanek and grandson, Edward James Halat.
