Esther Corrado Mirro, 99, of West Pittston, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at The Gardens at East Mountain, Plains Township. She was the wife of David Mirro, who passed away on October 30, 2007.
Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Ernest N., Sr. and Julia Olam Corrado. Esther was a graduate of Pittston High School. Prior to retirement, she was employed for over 40 years by Dell-Mar Sportswear, Pittston. She was a devoted lifelong member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Pittston.
Esther & Dave loved spending time with family and enjoyed entertaining at their home in Harding. They were devoted to their nephews and nieces and cousin's children and took an active part in their lives by attending birthday parties, sporting events, graduations and weddings. They loved to travel and would always include numerous nieces and nephews on their trips which were often to historical locations where Uncle Dave would provide a history lesson. Throughout the years Esther & Dave would help with the church Youth Group and Youth Choir and made many trips with the teenagers to concerts, Lake Winola and Francis Slocum. Esther had a beautiful singing voice and loved singing hymns at church and along with Dave always looked forward to attending the Metropolitan Opera in New York with their niece Concetta.
She is survived by her caregivers/cousins, Joseph Dabbieri and Jolyn Dudick; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia "June" Kuncio; brother, Ernest Corrado, Jr. and niece, Deborah Corrado Jacobs.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 23, 2023 in the Second Presbyterian Church, 143 Parsonage Street, Pittston, with The Rev. Roger E. Griffith, Pastor officiating. Entombment will take place in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville, at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 9:30AM to 11:00AM, at the church.
