Geraldine Drozda, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 2, 2024, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late William Copchunis and the late Nellie Yanovitch Copchunis Thomas and stepdaughter of the late John Thomas. She was a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre and graduated from GAR High School in 1949. Gerry then went on to pursue a career in nursing and graduated from Wilkes-Barre Area Vo-Tech School of Practical Nursing in 1973. She began her nursing career at the former Wyoming Valley Hospital on Dana Street, Wilkes-Barre. She was last employed at Geisinger Hershey Medical Center, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church on N. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving are her sons, Edward Drozda, Mountain Top and David Drozda and his wife, Fran, Plains; grandchildren, Brenda Lang, Danielle and Eddie Drozda, Kimberly Griffith and her husband, Dave and Krysten Drozda; great grandchildren, Blaine Lang, Kai and Kasen Drozda; her sister, Diane Wiernusz and her husband, Edward, Mountain Top; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Arline Rusnak.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Allied Meade Street Skilled Nursing, Wilkes-Barre.

Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith).
