Joseph A. Dombroski - Saturday, 3/9/2024

Joseph A. Dombroski, 90, of Avoca, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Allied Services Meade Street Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Sugar Notch, he was a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Holzman Dombroski. Joe served his country in both the Korean and Vietnam War as an active military Air Force radio controller. He received numerous honors and awards for his military service. He also served as Post Commander for the VFW Post 4909, Dupont.

Joe retired from long time employment at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center and as a school bus driver in the Pittston Area School District.

He is survived by his children, Mary Ann, Joseph (Donna), Rosemarie Dombroski, Judy Harrison and Stephen Butler; sister, Josephine Bachman. Grandchildren, Steve, Holly, and Kevin, Christopher, Ashley;Great grandchildren, Max, Logan, Milo, Paige, Payton, Maxwell, Robbie, Mackenzie, Alex, Mason, and Miles.

Also surviving is his companion and, "love of his life", Louise Durkin and her children, Ann Marie D'Aiello, John (Jacqueline) Durkin, Diane Minkoff, Brian (Donna) Durkin. He was "PaPa Joe" to, Geniele, Charlie and John D'Aiello, Nick, Jonathan, Brian, Katelyn (Pabst) and Patrick Durkin; Great Papa Joe to, Anthony, Ryan Lynn, and Elizabeth Durkin, Dylan Mlaker, Emily and Madelyn D'Aiello, Connor and Ally Pabst, all of whom loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward, Charles, John, Mary Ann Tomcho and Teresa Grant.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston, (Port Griffith).

Military honors will begin at 1:30PM with AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
