John James Begley, of Pittston, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024. His loving wife of 57 years is Elaine Davis Begley.
John was born in Pittston, son of the late Walter J., Sr. and Hilda Welsch Begley. He was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School in 1961 and Lackawanna Jr. College in 1963. Beginning in 1966, John served for 7 years in the U.S. Army Reserves 402 Military Police Wilkes-Barre. He was a retired Master Plumber and worked for 36 years in the industry. He recently received his 53 year service pin from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 524, Scranton.
John was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to watch the old westerns.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, John Michael Begley and wife, Dawn, West Wyoming and James Winton Begley and companion, Sabine Monahan, Tunkhannock; daughter, Amanda C. Begley, Pittston; grandchildren, Kolton Begley, Dr. Hannah Begley and husband, Michael Carey, Michael (Begley) Tonkin and Natasha Monahan; great grandson, Liam Monahan-Kurutz; sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace Begley, Dorothy Begley, Sharon Davis Valenti and husband, Val, Arlene Davis Thompson, Winton E. Davis and wife, Dolores; many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by siblings, Ann C. Rehm and husband, Mike, Walter J. Begley, Jr., Joseph M. Begley, Rose Marie Begley Clarke and husband, William F. and nephew, William Clarke.
As per John's wishes, his funeral and interment will be private.
