Edward P. Gorzkowski, Jr., 71, of Pittston Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton.
His wife, Sharon A. Wasko Gorzkowski, passed away May 12, 2016. Edward and Sharon were reunited on what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.
Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late Edward P., Sr. and Mary Ann Bednar Gorzkowski. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School. Edward was the Vice-President of Modern Gas Sales, Avoca and was a member and past president of the Pennsylvania Propane Gas Association. He was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish, Avoca.
Ed was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was cherished by his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved his Corvette and music collections. Ed enjoyed a good game of poker at the casino and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Edward P. Gorzkowski, III and his wife, Catherine G., Severna Park, MD; Lynne Luckasavage, (caretaker) and her husband, John, Pittston Twp.; Michael Gorzkowski and his fiancée, Beata Bober, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Abigail Gorzkowski, Hailey Luckasavage, Edward Gorzkowski, IV, and Logan Luckasavage, Piotr and Michal Bober; siblings, Linda Herman, John (Jay) Gorzkowski and Richard Gorzkowski, all of the Glendale section of Pittston Twp.; his furbabies, Skipper, Charlie, Jasmine, Oliver, Saxton and Nelly; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Gorzkowski.
The funeral will be held at 9:15 AM Friday, October 4, 2024, at Baloga Funeral Home Inc., 1201 Main St., Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Queen of the Apostles Parish, Hawthorne Street, Avoca, with Father Phillip J. Sladicka officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pittston at a later date with an additional celebration of life following the interment.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
