Gail E. Chaump, 84, of West Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Gail was born in Syracuse, NY on December 18, 1940, the child of Raymond and Florence Krise. She would relocate to West Pittston at an early age to be raised by her loving Grandparents Jane and Mabel Krise. Gail graduated from West Pittston High School in 1958 and was known for her many talents, including being an outstanding musician and vocalist. This is where she would also meet her future husband, Donald. Gail attended nursing school in New York City and received further training at the former Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. She would enjoy a long and successful career as a Registered Nurse, working at various hospitals and nursing homes in Northeastern PA.
Gail's vocal talents were widely known as she was active in different vocal groups throughout her life. She also was a generous and caring person, willing to sacrifice her time and talents in numerous ways for her family, community, and church. Besides having a non-stop motor and unmatched work ethic, Gail also loved gardening and had a penchant for organization skills, which helped her stay on top of everyday tasks.
She is survived by former husband Donald and her three children: Donald, West Wyoming; David (Roseann), West Pittston; and Daniel (Nicole), Mountaintop; as well as her grandson, David. Her son Donald Jr. was her primary caregiver during her later years, and they enjoyed each other's company immensely, sharing a special bond that cannot be replaced.
The family will be celebrating and remembering Gail in private and would like to ask that everyone remember her wonderful life with a prayer.
