Jerome Chester Prawdzik, Jr. - 9/9/2010
Lover of nature and an avid outdoorsman Jerome “Jerry” Chester Prawdzik, Jr., 29, of Port Griffith, passed away early Sunday morning in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.
Jerry grew up in Port Griffith and spent many of his summer days at Lake Carey fishing and engaged in other lake sports. Jerry enjoyed the serenity of the lake, the nature of the woods, and horsing around with his dog, “Willis”.
He was born in Plains Township on May 28, 1981, the son of Jerome Prawdzik, of Port Griffith and Linda Condusta, of Newport Township. Growing up he played baseball with the Jenkins Township Little League, mini football for both Jenkins Township and Pittston, and was an active member of St. Rocco’s Boy Scouts Troop 303. Jerry was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1999. Following high school, Jerry attended Misericordia University where he pursued a degree in social work while working in a local machine shop. Later he ran his own home construction business, the occupation he currently maintained.
Jerry lived life with enthusiasm; he always had a smile for someone and was the first to volunteer a helping hand. A true friend, Jerry was loved by those whose lives he touched. He was a beloved brother, son, grandson, and most recently the proud uncle of Damian. Jerry lived to share moments with family and friends particularly brother and sister, Joseph Prawdzik and Christina Prawdzik, both of Port Griffith. He was a loving grandson to Verna Brooks Prawdzik, Port Griffith and Albert and Mary Buck Condusta, Kingston. Numerous aunts and one uncle “Jimmy”, numerous cousins and extended family were an important part of Jerry’s life. Jerry was preceded in death by his grandfather, Chester E. Prawdzik (December, 2001), Port Griffith and his Uncle Dominic Condusta (March 2007), Kingston.
The funeral will be Thursday at 8:45 AM from the Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Rocco’s Church, 62 West Oak Street, Pittston, to be celebrated by Rev. Daniel Schwebs, O.S.J. Friends attending the funeral mass are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Exeter.
To honor him and celebrate his life friends may call Wednesday from 3 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
Jerome loved all animals, so the family is requesting in lieu of flowers donations be made in Jerome’s memory to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 East Main Street, Fox Hill Road Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702-6991.
