Ronald L. Scovell, 68, of Plains Twp. and Rodanthe, NC, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013, in Outer Banks Hospital, Nags Head, North Carolina. He and his wife, Priscilla Calabro Scovell, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 24, 2012.
Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Elmer and Mary Higgs Scovell. He was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary. Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during the Vietnam War. He was of the Protestant faith. Prior to retirement, he was employed for over 30 years by Procter & Gamble Co., Mehoopany. He was a former coach and Vice-President of the Plains Teener Baseball League. He was a member of the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club, the American Legion Post 558, Plains and the Coast Guard Association.
Ronald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Gifford Nolan, Hanover Twp. ; and Michael Nolan, Torrance, CA; daughter, Marissa Nolan Post, Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter; three brothers, Paul Scovell, Delmar, DE; John Scovell, Nahant, MA; Allan Scovell, Hazleton; sister, Ruthe Ann Swisher, Milton, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. in the Baloga Funeral Home Inc, 1201 Main St., Pittston (Port Griffith) with Rev. Carol Folk, Pastor of Loyalville United Methodist Church, Lake Twp., officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Twp..
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
