Joseph J. Vetack, Jr. - June 5, 2013

Joseph J. Vetack, Jr., 85, of Pittston, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, June 1, 2013. He and his wife, Vernadine Sekula Vetack, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on November 23, 2012.

Born in Port Griffith, he was a son of the late Joseph J., Sr. and Margaret Wallinchus Vetack. He was a graduate of Jenkins Twp. High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed for 42 years by the Lion Brewery, Wilkes-Barre. Joseph was a devout catholic. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston and a former member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston. Joseph had many wonderful memories from the years he sang and played guitar for the band, Tex Valen and his Rhythm Ramblers. He was a former member and past president of the Jenkins Twp. Little League.

Joseph was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, whom his family cherished. He had a special bond with his grandsons, Michael & Jeffrey; they were truly the apple of his eye. He will forever be missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to have known and loved him.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Charles Manganiello, the nurses and staff at both Highland Manor and Riverstreet Manor, for their compassionate care.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Patrice Bantell and her husband, Mike, Jenkins Twp.; Janice Kridlo and her husband, Kevin, Pittston; sons, Joseph Vetack and his wife, Ann, Pittston; David Vetack and his wife, Theresa, Wilkes-Barre; and Jeffrey Vetack, Port Griffith; brothers, James Vetack and his wife, Barbara, Victorville, CA; Gerald Vetack and his wife, Charlotte, Escondido, CA; sisters, Jean Talipan and her husband, Michael, Port Griffith and Margie Vetack, Port Griffith; grandsons, Michael and Jeffrey Bantell; brother-in-law, Stephen Sekula and his wife Carrie, Carbondale, many nieces and nephews and his Chihuahua, Poncho.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Vetack, his mother in law and father in law, Veronica and Stephen Sekula and sister-in-law, Regina Sekula Bevilaqua and husband John.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 8:45AM from Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St John the Evangelist Church, William St., Pittston. Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Pittston.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects Tuesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M and 6:00 to 8:00P.M., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Care and Concern Ministries of Saint John the Evangelist Parish Community, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640.
