Joseph J. McHale, Sr - Private

Joseph J. McHale, 89, of Fredericksburg, VA entered into eternal rest with his daughter, Ann by his side on November 16, 2013 in the Hospice Unit of Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA.

Born in Pittston on May 14, 1924, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Munley McHale. He graduated from St. John’s High School and was an Army veteran having served in WWII. Joseph earned several Bronze Medals along with the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. He was employed by Conrail, and retired after 43 years. Joseph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mary; brother, Thomas; sister, Ann Marie; and grandson, Christopher Wurm.

He is survived by his children, Susan Wurm and her husband Tom, Pine Grove, CA; Joseph Jr., Fredericksburg, VA; Mary Loughney and her husband Gary, Pittston, PA; and Ann Holland and her husband Mike, Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren Robert, Michael, Andrew, and Patrick Holland; Gary and Jennifer Loughney; several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made to the Hospice Unit of Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA or to St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
