Elizabeth "Betty" Lefchak, 95, of Pittston, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014, at Golden Living Center-East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre. She was the widow of Michael Lefchak , who passed away in 1980.
Born in Pittston, Elizabeth was a daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth Lisnock Kuzovich. She was educated in the Pittston schools and graduated from the Hoyt School of Practical Nursing, Kingston. She was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston.
Elizabeth was a talented seamstress and had worked in the garment industry for years and was a member of the ILGWU. Elizabeth will also be remembered for her amazing cooking skills and her unique sense of humor and dry wit.
Surviving are her children, Elizabeth Sobeski Davenport, Pittston; Michael Lefchak, Newtown; Carol Golembeski, Binghamton, NY; Richard Lefchak, Wayne; 12 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Kuzovich and Anna Dziak.
The funeral will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 9:15 A.M. from Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith), Divine Liturgy with the Office of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church 205 N. Main Street, Pittston, the Rev. Gary Mensinger, Administrator, will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 5 to 8 P.M., at the funeral home. Parastas services will be at 6:00 P.M.
