Elaine A. Clarke - February 8, 2014
Elaine A. Clarke, 71, of Port Griffith, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was the widow of Patrick "Barry" Clarke, who died February 3, 2001. Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Getlaka Lucas. She was a graduate of Jenkins Twp. High School. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Elaine was a beloved mother, nana, sister and aunt. She had spent most of her life raising children and continued to use this gift to raise her precious grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Fr. Brian J.W. Clarke, Diocese of Scranton; Cheryl Llewellyn, Pittston; Michael Clarke and wife, Brenda, W. Wyoming; David Clarke and wife, Maria, Pittston Twp.; Kimberly Marco and husband, Nick, Susquehanna Co; Patrick Clarke and wife, Marina, Pittston Twp.; sisters, Dorothy Shima, Mesa, AZ; Carol Bodden and Diane Lucas, both of Doylestown; brother, John Lucas, Doylestown; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie McClusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 11:00 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston, to be celebrated by her son, Fr. Brian J.W. Clarke. Everyone attending the mass is asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning. A private interment will be in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Relatives and friends may pay their respects today, February 7, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Baloga Funeral Home, Inc. 1201 Main Street, Pittston (Port Griffith).

Brian, you don't know me but I was friends with your mother when you were born. I grew up on Main St. across from Ewen. I hadn't seen her since we all got married and had families. She was a lovely person, I'm sorry I missed the viewing. I just saw this today. My condolances to you and your family. I also knew Marie. We were in the same grade in school.
